A little housekeeping ...

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I'm trying some new readers because of the coming closure of Google Reader, hopefully I'll find the perfect one soon! My only concern with all the ones I've been looking into lately is that they all look to Google Reader for my list of feeds, so what will happen when Google Reader is gone? Questions, Queries, Posers ... Thoughts anyone?

I have no idea! I think they want people to start using Google+ for followers instead of Google Reader. I can't remember how, but I did find a button on bloglovin to put on my blog, and through blogger I found a google+ button to add.

I've started using Feedly on all my different computers and tablets. Since they updated the Firefox version the PC version is much nicer and I'm lovin' it. Feedly was very easy to import my subscriptions into and now use.

Hi Tazzie! I really don't understand this at all. I just open up my Blogger Dashboard and I have all the blogs I follow there and I just scroll down and read each one from there. I don't click on Google Reader at all. So does this mean that my blogs I follow won't show up in my Dashboard either? I've never bothered with Reader, so I don't quite understand what this is all about:-(

I have been thinking that this is the time to stop reading the 500 blogs that I follow. There is something about this Reader just ending that does not make sense.

I've started using Feedly and love it. The Feedly developers have said that when Google Reader shuts down, Feedly will continue and all your feeds will be available.

I am trying to play safe and use both Bloglovin and Feedly right now - being a born cynic I don't think Feedly will be ready to cope when we can't link back to Google Reader any more and am wondering too how much they will charge when they roll out PRO and what the Basic service will be like. I thought like Mimi that I should reduce my following so have done so and keep a backup of all the blog addresses. I won't stop reading blogs altogether but I certainly find I get more sewing done having reduced my list.
Can't help wondering when Blogger will be made redundant too as that is probably another "service" that doesn't give Google revenue which basically is why they are discontinuing Reader. Uncertain times.

I've already switched to "The Old Reader". There are a couple things I don't care for that I thought Google Reader did better, but it is working OK. I followed their directions for importing all my subscriptions from Google Reader. It took about a week for that to happen as they have a huge backlog of people waiting.
