Cutting ... cutting ... and more cutting ...

I haven't had many moments to myself these past two days - family and kid commitments have been very time consuming.

In stolen moments though, I have managed to turn this:

Into this:

I don't know if it's just me being slow - but I find cutting quite time consuming. Especially cutting from scraps. But anyways, there are a lot of components ready for a whole pile of scrappy stars now.

That pile of scrap fabric was contained in a project box - I guess I'd just stuffed random bits and pieces in there during a tidy up. Now the project box is empty, and about to be filled again with an actual project ... my scrappy stars project. How fun :-)

I have so many scraps that need cutting so they are nice and easy to grab when needed. I started to do this last year and never finished - now I have another whole basket to go through and of course they need pressing before I can cut - it will never get done.

I have a pile of scrap pieces I need to cut down as well and find myself avoiding this task all the time. I suppose I should just deal with it... but making a quilt is so much more fun

Hi. I just started sorting our scraps but then I thought I might visit some blogs first. I love your tidy piles.
Have a nice weekend.

This is a time consuming task, and it seems as though the scraps multiply as you cut from the pile!!! I did this same thing last night--but I was cutting for hexagons from my scraps. It is fun to play with all the colors again and I will really enjoy it now that it is done. Looks like you will have fun with your pile of cut pieces for your stars. Found moments are all I have had lately too. I just want to sit and power sew for awhile. Hope you get the chance soon too.

Cutting is my least favorite part of quilting, but I refuse to purchase pre-cuts because of the high prices.

I'm with you, cutting is tedious . . . but unfortunately necessary. You make gorgeous quilts!
