Setting up the next project :-)

It's not that I'm going to be ready to work on another project any time soon ... but this endless hand quilting can become a little tiring ... so I started to pull (and order) fabrics for the next project I'd like to work on.

Two of my dear friends Prue and Chris are working on the Civil War Love Letters quilt, and seeing their darling blocks come to life inspired me to consider working on my own when I'm done quilting.

Rather than the scrappy selection I've gone with on my last couple of quilts, I have decided to just use a couple of fabrics, and you can see the ones I'm leaning toward in the photo above.

Far left is a fabric I'm considering for sashing strips - I'm not certain of that one just yet. The red, pink and mustard colours are for the blocks, the cream print is my 'background' fabric, and the fabric at top will be used in the border. A very unusual colour combination for me, but I think it'll look great in the blocks.

The hand quilting on my NI quilt is progressing nicely - sadly though it doesn't make for good blog fodder :-) I'm thinking I may do a little piecing next week just to keep my hand in, and hopefully that'll mean I have something interesting to share! Chatter soon ...

Definitely your type of fabrics Tazzie. And aren't you glad the weather has been good for hand quilting that NI baby for you? I'm expecting the call to look personally any time now!

Hand quilting is a beautiful thing, but takes time.
I like what you have sorted for your new project. I will keep watching this space.

Love the fabric selection.

You are amazing for hand quilting your NI quilt. Mine is at the long armers....can't wait to see how it looks finished.

You are amazing!! I still haven't started my Dear Jane or Nearly Insane (the books make great space keepers on the shelf) and now I've order the Farmer's Wife. Paper-piecing phobia...

Can't wait to see what you work up!

The CWLL blocks are so much fun to make. I made mine smaller - 5" - just thinking about it makes me want to make a few more!

Awesome stuff, Tazzie! The colours remind of Valentine's Day, and old fashioned valentine cards. I'm looking forward to seeing it together!

I just love the CW fabs you pulled for the next project. Like you, I am not sure about the sashing choice. How about a chocolate?

I really like the fabrics you're looking at for CW Love Letters. Perfect - nice and "lovey" while evoking the period.

I realized I have been following your blog without officially "following" your blog. : ) I have corrected that oversight. I have marveled at your NI quilt. I admire your focus in getting it done. I have been known to take up to two years to hand quilt a bed-sized project. I just can't bend over a quilt for more than an hour or so at a time, and other projects get looking more interesting.
I love your color combo for the CW love letters. It is always fun to plan the next quilt.

Hand quilting is a big commitment...like running a marathon....great when it is over (not that I have run a marathon, but I can imagine)...I have hand quilted a few things and it will be great when it is finished!!
