Lyn's Scrap Quilt

Today I just have to share the lovely project I quilted yesterday. Lyn made the top up - don't you just love the bright colours! It's a Susan Murphy design, and it's called Scrap Basket Lattice. Be sure to take a close look at it. I bet you can't guess how to put it together, it's really complex. Susan is amazing with her tricky scrap quilts. I haven't done the class, so I don't know exactly how it's done, but I've a vague idea.

I wanted to also show a close up of the quilting - Lyn picked the very perfect thread, it's so pretty. And I had to be so careful out in the border - any mistakes in the black fabric would stand out like a sore thumb. I'm pretty proud of myself!

My Bernina is purring like a kitten - Otto did the very best job. All is well in my little sewing world. x o x

What a great quilt. I thought I had it figured out, but no. The quilting looks great too. It's amazing you do that on a little machine!

So where can we get Susan's patterns????

Oh, that is one wonderful quilt! I have such a weakness for bright and black quilts. What an eye popper. And, like Sheila, where can we get the pattern??

I am usually pretty good at figuring out how to piece things, this one has me stumped. I think I need to find this pattern!

I am amazed that you can do that kind and quality of quilting on a small domestic machine. Do you have a frame?

Wow, great quilt and I love the stitching in the border. I just googled to try to find the pattern, but couldn't locate it. Could you post a place to get it? Thanks!

What a beautiful quilt, so bright and cheerful.
Great job on the quilting, I'd be afraid to use that thread on the black.

It looks dazzling! I'm trying to figure out how to do it with the minimum of set-in seams...

I am 99.9% sure that Fons & Porter published this pattern (I saw it on tv) only theirs was not scrappy... They had a yellow go over & under the whole length of quilt... (I prefer this scrappier version, make me wish I had paid more attention to the program.)

FYI -- the pattern my sister gave me is "The Basket Lattice Quilt" by Susan Smith in Wodonga; came from a quiltshop in Ballarat, and says it was originally from "The Ladies Circle" in the 1930's.

Your quilting is beautiful!! And you do this on a regular bernina sewing machine? I attmpt to do my own quilting on my regular machine but it takes forever and I wrestle with the quilt constantly. Do you have any hints for such wonderful quilting results as yours?
