Dear Jane - L1

My Nearly Insane blocks have definitely re-kindled my interest in my Dear Jane blocks, and I've made up another one :-) This one is L1 - Widow's Pane. I just love these 30's prints!

I did a quick count after I finished the block, and I've made more than 70 now. So, that means I've got less than 100 to go. This time around I'm not going to tackle the triangles. I was thinking of setting the blocks on point with white setting triangles inbetween, but I'm not sure if that's how I'll go now. I don't need to decide any time soon - at the rate I'm going, I've got years to decide!

I was also thinking of setting mine on-point when (if) I ever get done. LOL, I've only gotten 3 blocks done so far. But I think on-point would be stunning for this quilt, tho I've not seen one.

I've also started a Liberated Mizz Jane (1 block) that I'm trying to work concurrently.

Nice fabrics! I did the DJ in about three years, but without the triangles, and in soft blue-greens and white, a modern look. I am now doing the triangles, but putting them in a separate quilt. The triangles are easier if you invest in the DJ software. You can print them out for foundation paper piecing, or print applique templates, or piecing patterns. I find most of the work with FPP, and I can easily make two in an afternoon, but they are still a big challenge.

Your Dear Jane is looking good -- it is a long slow process, one to be savored. I've only got about 45 done I think, but now I'm feeling inspired to get them out and play for a bit. I ordered a Nearly Insane book as well, but I think I'll just admire it for now.

I love this block! I just had a look at your other DJ blocks and they are also beautiful. I, too, love the 30s reproduction fabrics and am making a hexagon quilt in them. It's been over a year that I've been working on that one now, so I know how you feel :-)

The DJ quilt (and others like it) are such great set-aside projects. When you pick them up again, weeks or months later, you don't have to remind yourself how you're making the blocks or where you were when you stopped. Each one is a separate little creation. Love that about them.
Your fabric is sweet.

I love your Dear Jane block! They are fun to make. I have made 68 blocks so far. After I have completed Dear Jane, I think I will give Nearly Insane a try.
