On Friday evening I started working on a couple of the blocks from the pattern I mentioned here.
I'm just loving how they're looking so far. The cherries and the pink part of the watermelon are cut from the same fabric, aren't batiks amazing?
The cherries have been blanket stitched by hand, and the watermelon by machine. I'll do the seeds on the watermelon by hand though, they're really quite tiny.
I see myself making some more of these blocks in the not too distant future - they're really fun!

The beauty and versatility of batiks is always impressive. They take a lot of the stress out of our fabric selections, don't they?
Love your fruity blocks.
Very cute blocks, Tazzie!!!
Love those blocks!!
Being new to Blog Land, I am so inspired by you and so many others.
I love the fruit! the fabric is great.
The watermelon and cherries look good enough to eat.
Lovely block...looks good enough to eat...enjoyed my visit.
Wow what happy blocks !
The blocks look cute although I'm not a big fan of doing much applique myself. However, when I do it - I like to blanket stitch by hand. Thank goodness Mom did all the machine applique on the house quilt I finished up recently.
