A weeks work ...

Just wanted to share a couple of things I've worked on this past week:

One of the blocks I made quite early on for the Caswell quilt had embroidered stems. As I worked through the quilt and appliqued many bias strips in place, it bugged me that this was the only block put together that way ... so I changed it:

Apologies for the terrible shadows in the picture - I think it was pretty dark when I snapped it. But you get the idea, and I'm much happier that the block matches all its buddies now. It was a job I put off for a little while thinking it'd be a bit of an ordeal, but it actually didn't take long at all. Happiness!!

After the Di Ford-Hall workshop, which I just LOVED, I was dying to work on some more paper piecing. I hadn't done any in quite a while, so I'd kind of forgotten that I really enjoy it! So when I needed a little hand work for yesterday, I got out this slow going hand work project that I have had for a little while:

I have no idea what the future holds for these hexies, but at some point they'll look like something fun. I'll keep plugging away at them in stolen moments and maybe in eleventy years time I'll have a fun quilt put together!

Well, that's it for now, I'm getting back to assembling the top of the Caswell quilt (minus borders). It's not going to sew itself, I need to get busy! Chatter soon :-)

It's always best to fix something that nags and bothers before its in the quilt and is difficult or impossible to change.

Love the hexies and their bright colors.

The Caswell block with the new stems is oh so pretty and worth the time it took to replace them.

Caswell block looks great. Oh my, your hexies are absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait to see what you do with them even if it takes 11 years. Thank you so much for sharing.

Very pretty appliqué block! I have kind of got away from EEP, but your beautiful blocks have inspired me to dig out my UFO's!

So glad you changed the stems when you did. It would have always bugged you. Fantastic hexies. It seems you've done quite a few already.

Sometimes thinking about redoing some work is worse than the actual doing! Love what you've ended up with :-) And your hexies are lovely too!

Funny, I thought I had seen this block before and now I realize why. I agree that the block will be happier now. Lovely! Love the hexies too.

You are so funny about those stems, but I bet I would have done the same thing, LOL. Did you come up with the sashing/setting treatment for your Caswell or did you see that somewhere? I just love it! And with your permission I would like to consider it for mine. That might just get me over the hump of starting that quilt, as I wasn't crazy about the border or setting that came in the pattern. You are so clever and your quilt is going to be stunning. I can't wait to see how you border it! You do such lovely, LOVELY work and you are so inspiring to me! Toodles!
