Here is my Gingerbread House for Christmas this year. It's one of my favourite things to do for the holiday season. Each year I try something different - I can't imagine I'll ever get tired of it!
This year I made windows from crushed boiled lollies. After the walls are par-baked, you put the lollies in the holes and bake it again and they melt down. I'm thrilled with how they look, and the battery operated led's I found at Ikea are perfect to light up the inside.
I used a new gingerbread recipe, which I'll never use again - it baked up all lumpy and the pieces changed shape a little while they were baking - hard for construction afterward. Live and learn however - I'll go back to Martha's recipe :-)
If it weren't so hot here, I'd make some trees etc for the yard of the house, but today we've been experiencing 42c temperatures (107f) so the last thing I want to do it heat up the oven. Maybe I'll get enthusiastic tomorrow if it's not so hot. Chatter soon :-)

Tazzie the house is beautiful :-))))))
Whoa! That *is* hot! Your gingerbread house is gorgeous - I really love those lolly windows. :)
Great house!
Wow, I remember those temp. numbers from the days when I lived in Arizona.
Happy Holidays.
I love the house - I agree with you though if we had hot Christmases I would be not baking as much as I do. Have a Merry Christmas
Love your gingerbread house! I never made one with "glass" windows... what a great idea. Every year when my neices and nephews were children and then again when my girls were children, I would make a gingerbread house ...with open windows... filled with candy. Kind of like a gingerbread pinata. The kids were allowed to break it open on Xmas eve and eat the house and all the goodies inside. They just told me that was one of their favorite memories. Im sure this beauty of yours will become someones favorite also.
Gorgeous! I love the roof details too.
107! you need a solar oven for your gingerbread baking :)
Wow! The house is stunning.
What a wonderful job you did; it's lovely!
What a great idea for the stained windows!
So cute! Have never made a gingerbread house myself so admire those made by others.
