Guild Show Day

I had such a lovely day today. It was my day to demonstrate at the SA Quilters Guild show. My session was from 10am until noon, and I was working on needle-turn applique. You've already seen the project I worked on - the Christmas bauble mat. I made up some heart shaped 'baubles' this time.

The morning went very fast, and before long I was able to travel through the length and breadth of the vendors mall. I was really restrained with my purchases this year. I finally picked up my very own copy of 'Nearly Insane'. I've been dying to find a copy, and I predict that you'll see a few blocks before long. Why I would even dream of this before I've finished DJ II, I have no clue, but some things just can't be explained. I also purchased the Better Homes and Gardens bag, which is tradition for me. The pile of BH&G bags in my sewing room is blocking out the sun, but there are always such nice treats inside.

And my favourite bit of news: Yesterday morning I was so lucky to be able to meet up with Meredith and Keryn for coffee before work. It was so nice to finally meet them, and the hour that we had to spend together went way too quickly. It's so fun that we're into the same kinds of quilts and fabrics, we like to adopt old sewing machines and so on and so forth. We were able to chatter like old friends. I look forward to catching up with them again and again.

Well, that's it from me for today - I want to do some tidying in the sewing room before I hit the sheets. I'm really going to sleep well tonight!

How exciting! I started the Nearly Insane quilt sometime last year, but I only have 13 blocks done on it! :( I really need to get back working on it, because I do love the quilt!

how exciting you will love making this quilt
I am trying to reproduce it as closely as possible to the original quilt made by Salinda Rupp
each block is like a min quilt on its own!
Have fun and join the Nearly Insane yahoo group it helps!

The correct nqame for that quilt is Totally Insane. I have the book, but I've never dared start on the blocks, and when I do I'm going to veto some of them. They are madness!

Glad you had a good day at the show, it as great to catch up with you!

Lucky you!

I admire your ambition with the quilt -- I don't do well with long term projects.

That isn't a quilt I think I'll ever do--I'm not a great technical sewer but am sure your skills are advanced! Sorry not to get to see pics from the quilt show. Anyone else take some?

Wow, that is an amazing quilt and way more than I'll ever commit to, at least out loud! You're such a brave quilter! Let us know how it goes. I have a feeling as I watch yours unfold, however slowly, that you'll probably get me hooked, too. lol You're inspiring that way! Hugs! M

I really want to attempt that quilt some day, but I'm terrible about finishing things. Maybe I'll just enjoy watching you make it... LOL* ;)
