Magazine Fun and Scrapping Indecisively

My Dogtooth Violets quilt came back to me in the mail yesterday. And tucked into the box was a copy of the magazine. Here's a little sneaky peek for you all to see.

The magazine is Australian Patchwork and Quilting - Volume 18, Number 4. I notice they've stopped putting the month and the year on the magazine again - I wonder why? In any case, they've photographed the quilt beautifully, if only I could arrange things at home so artfully :-)

And on the weekend I had a few minutes to myself late at night. It was too late to organise another top for quilting, so instead I took a look at my 'leaders and enders'. I'm not usually completely indecisive, but I thought I had a better idea with the layout. I ripped the four blocks apart that I showed a few days ago, and added squares around the edge of all of them.

This morning I thought about them some more. Maybe I could set them on point with this yellow reproduction as sashing strips. I'll then have a little think about what I could use as setting triangles.

I wonder if this project will banish all the 2" reproduction fabrics from my scrap box? I have a feeling ... not!

You know, when I keep changing a layout, I usually wind up putting the whole project aside and come back to it later. I don't handle indecision well.

Quilt looks great. I like the way you are showing us the evolution of putting a new pattern together. You and Bonnie are so good with the scraps.
Thank You

The magazine picture does look great... and if you had a whole art department working on it, you could probably achieve the same effect at home. :D

I like the leader-ender blocks too, with the cheddar. Wonder what it'd look like with a red there? or a sashing with cheddar/red/cheddar?

Tazzie,
I love your dogtoothed violets Quilt- I always enjoy seeing your projects and am a big fan of the Australian Patchwork and Quilting magazine. The most current issues take awhile to arrive in Canada so it will be a few months before I see it in our local quilt shops.
Perhaps that is why they are not dating the issues because of their international sales-
You do wonderful things with your scraps- I am sure your leaders and enders will become another terrific project.
Regards,
Anna

Congratulations on a lovely quilt, I too have a quilt in that issue of AP &Q which is as I type, on its way to me too. Its called Strawberry Picnie and is a easy little quicky-unlike your beauty which must have taken many pleasurable hours to sew.
Love your quilt, love your blog (and those featherweights, too!)

I like the yellow. I'll be buying a copy of that issue of AP&Q when it turns up here (it'll be about 2 months...). Your quilt looks stunning in it.

What a beautiful picture of a beautiful quilt. Congratulations!
I am always indecisive when I plan my own quilts - each decision made makes me forgo other possibilities, and I always wonder if I should have made a different choice.

banish? Hee! Getting lightheaded I see. :)

In all seriously though, I dig this idea you came up with. Completely! Shall we call it brilliant? You let me know. I'm thinking "yes, brilliant" with that sashing color but again, you'll have to decided. I'm just a member of the peanut gallery.

Congrats, Tazzie. Would it be possible for you to photo the front of the magazine? I'm sure I won't remember the volume numbers when I'm out and about, but i'm sure I'll remember the cover.
