I'm just getting ready to quilt this block - it's the infamous block 18. Yes, the 6" block with 229 pieces. I'm pretty pleased with how it went together ... mostly.
DH took this picture a few minutes ago with his fancy-pants camera :-)

Well, I don't know about not looking quite so good close up! It looks pretty OK to me and who is going to put their macro specs. on anyway? OK, there are not many people I know who could (or would want to)put a 6" block together with 229 pieces. I think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteIsn't this quilt called Nearly Insane...not Completly Insane? It would really put a girl over the edge to try to get 1/2 inch quarter square blocks perfect. I think your block is good, and your quilt is fantastic! but of course I've already told you that about 20 times, lol. When you get it all done and just can't deal with that not perfect block just send this lovely across the big blue ocean to me in the US of A ;~)
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect from here! :)
ReplyDeleteStill looks fabulous from where I am sitting...jeez! 229 pieces! That is a lot of piecing perfection crammed into a teensie-tiny space!
ReplyDeleteIn stitches,
Teresa :o)
Incredible block... looks great to me!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want that fancy-smancy camera anywhere near my face!! haha
ReplyDeleteLOVE your quilt and your close-up!!
P
whatcha gonna do, go completely bonkers and pull it out. Those corners will pucker up nicely when its quilted
ReplyDelete229 pieces! Wow. I'm speachless and trust me that does not happen very often ;) Tell that husband of yours to forget the macro linse. It's an amazing block.
ReplyDeleteWhen fitting together that many tiny pieces into such a small space--close is good enough! Most of us don't wear our macro-lens glasses when viewing quilts! : )
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, beautiful heirloom you are creating....and hand quilted too....oh my! Make sure you document it well this is sure to be a museum piece one day.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing
It looks great to me! Handmade things shouldn't be perfect. They are made by a person not a machine. At least that's what I tell myself all the time! I so admire that you have stuck with the project from start to finish and are even hand quilting it. Wow!
ReplyDeletelooks better than i could do! i'm sure you can't wait till it's ALL DONE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTh galloping pony in America would not be able to see it either so... I think it will do and quilting will distract from the missed points. INSANE is a good name for this quilt! Bonnie Hunter posted her NI quilt last week.
ReplyDeletedon't worry, be happy.
ReplyDeleteDH is a rascal! I don't even think I want to know what he says to the famous question "do these pants make my butt look fat?" Does he have a wide angle lens for that damn camera too? lol
ReplyDeleteHey, I can barely count to 229 without getting tired, let alone fit them into 6 square inches!
This quilt is fabulous!!!!!
What a smart-aleck! One consolation, as you get older, it's harder for your eyes to see close-up, so you'll never see your perceived imperfections (believe me, it's perfect just the way it is!)
ReplyDeleteIt looked good before his close up so it will look super good after it is quilted. That makes quilting so perfect.
ReplyDeleteYours in quilting Marge
I think it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNo one I know has x5 lenses naturally, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that kind of closeup look! I just love your color combo in that block. Jazzy and exciting!
ReplyDeleteWOWZER!!!! That looks great to me!! I am clearly impressed. Great job!! --Hugs--SAndie
ReplyDeleteHow weird is that Tara. I am in the process of making this block right now. I got my triangles around the wrong way, but they are all wrong so I'm not worried.
ReplyDeleteWill post as soon as I've finished.
Love your block! Some of my fabrics are similar - LOVE that GREEN! vbg
Do they say in Australia "Itʻll quilt out ..."?
ReplyDeleteThanks, all of you participating in this NI challenge. This is my first stop at your blogsite. A most impressive project/challenge. Good on yaʻ!
It looks lovely to me -- just take DH's camera away -- that is what I have done!
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect from here!
ReplyDeleteHey, I liked the close up. The fabric colors look so vibrant.....and it shows what a great seamtress you are!
ReplyDeleteWOW! It's fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding! I am doing this quilt and I have over 35 blocks done. BUT I took a pass at this one!!!
