Nearly Insane Block 8

Even though I don't usually post my Nearly Insane blocks here (I usually put them on the Nearly Insane Fans blog), I thought I'd share this block with you, because I'm just so very proud of it!

Can you believe this block is 6 inches finished size? It has 152 pieces. And the crazy thing is that there are two blocks in the quilt with more pieces - the one with the most has 229!

This is the second time I made this block, because I wasn't very happy with the first one. I'm thrilled now, and I'm sticking with it. I can totally understand why this quilt is called Nearly Insane!

  9. You did a great job of this one. I'm thinking it is much more complicated than a Dear Jane. Why are we mere mortals so challenged by such things! Hope you don't get headaches from squinting --- or that no one opens a window and lets a breeze at your layout on any of these before they are stitched!

I am hoping you'll tell me you foundation/paper pieced this block Tazzie???? Cos the alternative makes my eyes go all whizzy in my head, as if I needed any help with that look!

  12. Beautiful block, and you're so right to redo one you don't like. I left one of those in one of my first quilts, and it bothers me still!

  13. I don't think it should be called Nearly Insane -- it should be Totally and Completely Insane!!! I think I will stick to my more civilized Dear Jane :)))

    Have fun with it!

  16. I like all the NI blocks I see, and this one is especially impressive. I used to have this book on my "buy it" list, but after reading about the numbers in some of the blocks, I think I'll just watch you and cheer quietly from the sidelines.

Definitely pat yourself on the back for staying with this project!

  18. Hi Tara, what a beautiful block!

But definitely one that I will NOT be making. LOL

As I have "matured" I have decided that 1" finished is the smallest pieces that I am willing to work with.

Can't wait to see the other "insane" blocks.

  25. I though making my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler (140- 6.5" blocks) was Insane. I'd call your quilt project "certifiable". I too want to know if it was foundation pieced??? Please say yes, it's just too perfect. I've added your link to my Blog roll. Just to remind me that I'm not insane...

152 pieces in 6" has to be the redcord for a quilt block. Its also gorgeous.
