Four DJ Blocks

I had a very DJ day yesterday! I managed to get four blocks done. You can see that I didn't tackle any of the really tough ones, but I'm really glad to have made these ones. The first one is H13 - Farm Fields. The second is I1 - Ralph & Nelda's Wedding. Number three is I2 - Kaye's Courtyard, and the fourth is K12 - Doris's Dilemma.

They were all fun and easy, and done on the machine. I changed one block - K12 is different in my book. My DJ book is from the first printing, and I know some of the blocks have been made more accurate in follow up printings. Anyway, in my book the centre square is crooked, so I've squared it up again. I didn't do that in my original quilt, and I always told myself I'd fix it if I did it again.

Well, I've made it 8 days so far without purchasing any fabric. The fabric from Hancocks hasn't arrived yet either, so I can say that without any asides. The big test for me will be tomorrow when I teach at the quilt store ... will I be able to hold back faced with all the lovely fabrics? They're like candy!

Thank you to everyone for your lovely comments about the Dolphin quilt. Forest Jane asked about the size of the quilt. It's approx 60" x 66", so it's really too small for a bed quilt, it would be nice for a throw on the bed though. I think it's a bit large to put on the wall in Amy's room, but if she really wanted to, we could do it. I hope I haven't missed anyones questions over the past few days ... I promise to make an effort to go back and make sure I haven't missed anything.

Have a great week everyone, and for those of us participating ... keep strong on the fabric diet!

  11. Hi Tazzie, love the DJ blocks you have just finished up. It's such fun to see them as they get made. The size is too small for my challenged vision, but I love seeing them. It stuck me also, your Doris's Dilmena..my moms name was Doris, and it's not a name you see very often. Neat that there is a block called that in the quilt. Hugs, Finn who thinks you can win and show Marty what's what..LOL
